Chris Williams - Alto Sax

Christopher Williams graduated from Middlesex University in 2004 with BA 1^st class honours degree in Jazz Studies, studying under the likes of: Stuart Hall, Nikki Illes, Martin Speake and Eddie Parker. It was under the guidance of Eddie Parker Chris was first encouraged to expand more in his improvisation, to play with a more open approach and a unique voice, which was instilled into and has shaped his music ever since.

Since graduating Chris has been exploring varying styles of music, and the role improvisation has to play in these styles, by playing in a number of bands throughout London. These include punk, rock, disco south London based Chik Budo, Brazilian influenced Sherpa Boy and Liran Donin’s The People of Kloom.

Chris also plays in New Telepathics led by New Zealander Darryn Harkness (Serafin) playing in London, Germany and Italy.

Chris’ main influences and sources of inspiration are: Tim Berne, Kenny Wheeler, Lee Konitz, Hermeto Pascoal, Steve Coleman and Joe Henderson.
